stopped for a seatbelt violation, the Indiana State Police said.
According to police, at 10:44 p.m. Jay L. Francis, 23, was stopped for the

police said, the trooper recovered six plastic bags each containing
approximately one pound of a substance which subsequently field-tested
positive for marijuana.
Total yield, police said: six pounds of marijuana.
Francis was charged with possession of marijuana with a weight in excess of
30 grams, dealing marijuana, and operating while intoxicated-controlled
substance and transported to Lake County Jail, police said.
“This stop is an example of how criminals and illegal drugs are often
discovered on traffic stops for simple traffic violations,” police said.
