A Knox, Ind., man has been charged with sexual misconduct with a minor
following an investigation by the Indiana State Police.
Keith Thatcher, 36, was arrested on that charge on Tuesday and transported
to the Starke County Jail, where he was awaiting extradition to LaPorte
County, where the alleged misconduct occurred, police said.
The investigation began on Aug. 6, when ISP Det. Chris Campione received
information about a 15-year-old girl involved in sexual misconduct since
July 2012. At that time, police said, she had been residing in Michigan City
and Thatcher was an acquaintance of her family.
Sexual misconduct with a minor is a Class B felony punishable by a term of
six to 20 years.
The ISP said that the investigation is ongoing.
