The Indiana State Police is citing driver inattention in a two-vehicle accident on Monday on I-65 in Jasper County.

According to police, at 9 a.m. Peter C. Quinn, 49, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was northbound on I-65, two miles south of the Rensselaer exit, when he rear-ended a semi stopped with its hazard lights activated, behind an earlier jackknife in the area.

The driver of the semi was Jason Wilson, 36, of Avon, Ind.

Quinn advised police that he was “watching the roadway for slick spots when he looked up and noticed that traffic had stopped.” Quinn was unable to avoid running his 2013 Subaru Outback into the rear of Wilson’s box trailer, police said.

Quinn was transported to Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Crown Point with a fractured arm and head injury, police said. His Outback was a total loss.

Wilson escaped injury but his trailer’s bumper and rear doors sustained damage, police said.
