A funnel cloud was sighted in extreme southwest Porter County on Tuesday afternoon, prompting the county-wide activation of tornado sirens.

The Porter County 911 Dispatch Center activated the sirens at 3:08 p.m., after a Hebron Police officer reported a funnel cloud in the area of C.R. 500W in Boone Township, Chesterton Fire Chief John Jarka told the Chesterton Tribune. The funnel cloud, moving southeast, is not believed to have touched down.

Radar on the Weather Channel app showed a light green splotch in the area at the time, but nothing like heavy weather.
