Two persons were
injured on Sunday in a three-vehicle accident on Ind. 49, Chesterton Police
police, at 5:58 p.m. Jeannene L. Schumacher, 72, of Morgan Township, was
northbound on Ind. 49 and approaching a green light at the intersection of
Gateway Blvd. Northbound traffic was slowing or had stopped, however, for an
emergency vehicle with activated lights which had entered the intersection,
police said. Schumacher did not see the emergency vehicle and did not notice
the slowed or stopped traffic and rear-ended a second vehicle, police said.

third vehicle was Magnolia B. Kisala, 40, of Chesterton.
complained of chest pain, police said, and her passenger, Dennis P. Skrivan,
68, also of Morgan Township, complained of back pain. Both were transported
to Porter Regional Hospital for treatment, police said.
