CPD seeks black Ford Escort in hit and run

Chesterton Police are seeking the driver in a hit-and-run accident on Friday in the parking lot of the Chase Bank at 109 Broadway.

According to police, at 11:05 a.m. the unknown driver of a vehicle was backing from a space in the lot when he or she struck an unoccupied vehicle parked in the adjacent space. The driver then fled the scene. The suspect vehicle was last seen southbound on Second Street.

Police described the suspect vehicle as a black Ford Escort with no rear bumper.

Police estimated damage to the unoccupied vehicle at up to $2,500.
