Chesterton Police are investigating the thefts of components from Comcast cable boxes.

According to police, sometime around 8:07 p.m. Wednesday someone accessed the box in the area of Nautica Drive and 1000N and removed the power supply, a theft discovered by a Comcast repairman dispatched to the scene after several customers reported the loss of cable service.

Police described the power supply as a box black in color and approximately one foot by eight inches in size and estimated the loss at $1,000.

Then, sometime between 5 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday the Comcast box in the area of Village Point and Gateway Blvd. was entered and a Motorola amplifier removed.

Police described the amplifier as made of metal and around the size of a shoe box and similarly estimated the loss at $1,000.

Comcast advised police that the company suspects an ex-employee still in possession of a box key to be responsible for the thefts, as neither of the boxes was entered forcibly.
