By the end of the week, bridge beams will once again span I-80/94 (the Borman
Expressway) at the I-65 interchange in Gary, the Indiana Department of
Transportation said.
Since the old I-65 bridges were demolished in March, only bare sky has been
above this stretch of the Borman. But by the end of this week, new beams will
be up for the new flyover ramps being built from westbound I-80/94 to
southbound I-65.
Those beams will be installed during the nighttime. Beginning at 9 p.m.,
crews will restrict various lanes on either side of the Borman between Martin
Luther King Drive and Central Ave. Between midnight and 5 a.m. crews will
close the roadway for up to 20 minutes at a time. Indiana State Police
troopers will be on hand to direct traffic for the rolling closures.
