Body found near Hebron identified as Akron, Indiana man

The Porter County Sheriff’s Police has identified the decomposed body found near Hebron on Monday as a man reported missing in early February from Akron, Ind.

Sgt. Larry LaFlower identified the victim--believed to have been shot to death--as Ruben Paredes, 32.

On Feb. 3 Paredes’ wife reported him missing to Akron Police. On Feb. 5 Paredes’ vehicle was found abandoned near a church on the South Side of Chicago, LaFlower said.

The PCSP and APD are currently conducting a joint homicide investigation.

Paredes’ nude body was found around 5:11 p.m. in about three feet of water in a culvert on C.R. 500W, between C.R. 900S and C.R. 1000S in unincorporated Boone Township.

Akron is located in Fulton County in North Central Indiana.
