Chesterton Police are investigating the attempted burglary on Sunday of a
residence in the 400 block of West Lincoln Ave.
According to police, at 8:42 p.m. a resident was walking down the stairs
near the back door when “someone forcibly opened the door.” The resident
screamed, pushed the door closed, and called 911.
Police said that a K-9 unit failed to track the suspect, who did leave a
shot print on the door.
No estimate of damage was available.
Meanwhile, just before being dispatched to the residence, the CPD also
received a report of someone’s banging on the door of a residence in the 300
block of South Second Street. In that case a male subject in dark clothing
was seen running across Lincoln Ave. to the south, police said.
