Another burglary in Estates of Sand Creek

A second home on Hogan Ave., in the Estates of Sand Creek, has been reported burglarized, Chesterton Police said.

According to police, sometime between 11 a.m. Friday and 10:07 p.m. Monday someone entered the home, located in the 1500 block of Hogan Ave., and went through the entire house. Stolen were a wooden box of silver flatwear and numerous pieces of jewelry, including two gold tennis bracelets, one with citrines and the other with diamonds and emeralds, a Tiffany necklace, and Tiffany bracelet, and a sterling necklace.

Total estimated loss: $4,500.

Police said that fresh pry marks were found on the rear door and that the weather stripping had been removed from the front door. The house had been left secured by the owners.

Monday’s reported burglary was the second committed over the weekend in the 1500 block of Hogan Ave.

The first was reported late on Friday and occurred sometime that day between 7:30 and 10:27 p.m. In that case forced entry was also made, through a kitchen window. Stolen were $4,200 in cash and a Springfield .45 caliber handgun. Total estimated loss: $4,800.
