Chesterton Police are investigating the burglary on Monday of a residence in the 1900 block of Laura Lane.

According to police, sometime between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. someone entered the home and removed from a jewelry armoire in the bedroom several expensive white- and yellow-gold necklaces, mostly rope style, and several white- and yellow-gold rings. Also missing was a knife set. The victim advised investigators that she discovered the loss while cleaning and noticed that the armoire had been moved slightly from its normal spot and was lighter in weight than it should have been.

The victim estimated the total loss at $15,500.

The victim also advised that she believes entry had been made through the front door, although police said there was no obvious sign of forced entry and no footprints in the snow leading to the front door.
