A Valparaiso man was arrested Wednesday on a charge of robbery after the Porter County Sheriff’s Police said that he held up the Lil Saver Store at 393 W. U.S. Highway 6 in South Haven.

Booked into the Porter County Jail was Ryan Chris Milligan, 24, of 776-1 Baltimore Road.

According to police, at 10:20 p.m. officers were dispatched to the Lil Saver in response to a report of a robbery in progress there, witnessed by several citizens who called 911. Investigators made contact with the clerk, who advised that a male subject had entered, implied possession of a gun, and then fled with an undisclosed sum of cash.

Witnesses provided investigators with a description of the suspect as well as his direction of travel, and officers and K-9 units located the man, subsequently identified as Milligan, a short time later.

Milligan has been preliminarily charged with a Class C felony, punishable by a term of two to eight years.
