Details remain sketchy in what the Porter County Sheriff’s Police is
calling an apparent attempted murder and suicide on Wednesday at a
residence in Union Township.
According to police, at 8:42 a.m. officers were dispatched to the
residence at 196N 750W in response to a report of a man’s being shot by
his brother.
On officers’ arrival, members of the Emergency Response Team made entry
into the residence, where Lawrence Hull, 56, was found deceased in the
kitchen with a single gunshot wound to the head believed at this time to
be self-inflicted, police said.
His brother, Ronald O. Hull, 69, was found on a couch in the living room
with a gunshot wound to the neck, police said.
Ronald Hull was transported to Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus, where he
remains hospitalized. A Porter hospital spokesperson, citing
confidentiality laws, was unable to report on his condition today.
An autopsy was conducted this morning on Lawrence Hull but Coroner Vicki
Deppe was unavailable for comment.
The investigation is continuing, police said.
