1050N to be repaved; avoid it if possible

The Town of Chesterton’s feverish paving schedule this summer will resume on Tuesday, when 1050N is re-surfaced between C.R. 200W and Ind. 149.

1050N will not be officially closed. Residents will have access to their homes. But motorists are being strongly encouraged to avoid the area and find alternate routes into and out of town, Street Commissioner John Schnadenberg told the Chesterton Tribune today.

“There will be delays,” he said. “We’re going to try to work traffic around the milling and paving machines. But there will be delays.”

Meanwhile, 1100N between C.R. 50W and 23rd Street remains closed during the day, as the developer of the Stone Meadow subdivision continues to install infrastructure.

Schnadenberg said that 1100N is being closed during the day, then re-opened at night. The daytime closures may remain in effect for a few more days.
