John H. Liefbroer Sr., dies at 69

John H. Liefbroer Sr. passed away on Wednesday January 14, 2009. 

He was born in Kalamazoo, Mich. on January 26, 1939 the son of Henrick & Jeannette (Blaauw) Liefbroer, both of whom preceded him in death. 

He is survived by his sons; John Liefbroer Jr. of Allegan, Mich. and James Liefbroer of Hillsdale, Mich.; daughter Julie (Tim) Stephens of Russells Springs, Ky.; sister, Betty (Ron) VanMersbergen of Bellaire, Mich.; grandchildren, Brent, Tony, Keirstan, Jonathon, Kayleigh and Kaitlynn and several loving nieces and nephews. 

John worked as a salesman for Hy-Dac Rubber. He was an avid NRA member and belonged to the South Bend shooting club and Fin & Feather shooting club. He also loved riding motorcycles and was an AMA member.

A memorial service, Rev. Mike Porter officiating, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 24, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Cremation will be at Heritage Crematory, Portage. 

A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 23, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a college fund set up for his grandchildren through Community Trust, Inc., 752 N. Main Street, Jamestown, KY 42629.
