Janet M. Wilson dies at 65

Janet M. Wilson, 65, of Wanatah, formerly of Chesterton, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009 at her home.

She was born on June 28, 1943 in Chicago, to Alva and Irene (Ward) Holderman, both of whom preceded her in death.

On September 8, 1962 in Miller, she married Charles W.L. Wilson, who survives in Wanatah.

Janet is also survived by sons, Robert (Donna) Wilson, of Portage, Patrick (Janet) Wilson of Valparaiso, and Charles “Lennie” Wilson of Valparaiso; daughter, Robin (Robert) Scott of Westville; sister, Judy Holderman of Ala.; grandchildren, Jamie Wilson, Jacob Wilson, Tanya Gorgas, Tiffany Mayoch, Thomas Mayoch, Sherry (Ivo) Scur, Heather Scott and Jessica (William) Linebaugh; great-grandchildren, Liliana Gorgas, Isabel Mayoch-Piggott and Delilah Gorgas; special friends, Belinda Messer and Gail Phleeger and special companions, Nona, Reba and Blossom. She is also survived by sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Janet graduated from Ivy Tech, IUN and Indiana Wesleyan with a B.S. in nursing, Janet spent her nursing career taking care of the elderly and enjoyed the time she spent with them. These people along with her family and close friends were of utmost importance to her. She retired from Lifecare Center in Valparaiso in 2003, and was a member of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary 2517.

A Mass of Christian Burial, Fr. Jerry Schweitzer officiating will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 2 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Ave., Chesterton.

Visitation will be today, Monday, June 1 from 4 until 8 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.

Memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice Center of Porter County, Sacred Heart Church in Wanatah or the American Cancer Society.
