Barry J. Pearson, 42, of Michigan City passed away peacefully after a courageous and heroic battle with brain cancer on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010 at 5 a.m. in LaPorte Hospital.

Born February 14, 1967 in Michigan City, he was the son of Bob and Joan (Magon) Pearson, who survive in Michigan City. On April 28, 1990 in Michigan City, he married Chrissy Weber, who survives in Michigan City.

Also surviving are children Zachary, Kayla and Kelsey Pearson, all of Michigan City; brother Scott Pearson (wife Susan) of Chesterton; sister Sherri Pearson-Schuster (husband Stephen) of Kansas City, Mo.; niece Holly Pearson; nephews Mitchell, Evan and Grant Pearson and Noah Hankins; aunts Vernie Cheslock (husband Andy) of Wadsworth, Ohio, Violet Cox of South Bend, and Irene Butts of Finley, Ohio; in-laws Bill Weber (wife Kathy) of Michigan City; sisters-in-law Jill Weber (Evan Malone) of Philadelphia, Pa. and Anna Weber of Michigan City; his best friend Jay Skalka (wife Joy) of LaPorte; numerous cousins and friends and many past and present families of Beechwood Mobile Home Court.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Robert and Esther Pearson; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Julia Magon; aunts Blanche Vitale, Mary Ann Adams, Evelyn Cambell and Jean Nespo; and uncles Roger and Donald Pearson, John Magon and Stanley Saturnas.

Barry and Chrissy owned and operated Beechwood Mobile Home Court, which his parents had built and which he had assisted with for many years. Barry was a member of Queen of All Saint’s Catholic Church. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, a patient and giving son and brother, and was a friend to everyone who met him. He loved his children and enjoyed playing games with them and watching Zachary play soccer, Kayla running and Kelsey cheerleading. He enjoyed his time spent watching his children grow and excel in all aspects of life. Barry also loved fishing, snowmobiling and anything to do with the outdoors. His heart was larger than life, putting all others before himself. He could make and fix anything and would help anyone and everyone who needed assistance, even those who didn't know they needed his help.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at Queen of All Saint’s Catholic Church, 606 S. Woodland Avenue, with the Rev. James McGrogan officiating. Burial will follow in Pinhook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington Street, Michigan City and on Thursday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at Queen of All Saint's Catholic Church. A wake service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m Wednesday in the funeral chapel.
