Maryanna (Burns) Jurasek, daughter of the late Sylvia Ray Yagelski, passed away suddenly on August 24, 2020, at her home in Trapper Creek, Alaska.

She was born and raised in Porter and attended St. Patrick School in Chesterton and Sacred Heart Academy in Lisle, Illinois.

In 1959, she left Porter with her (late) husband, Anthony, to homestead in a remote area of Alaska on 160 acres she called home, enjoying the wilderness life and her view of Mt. Denali from her living room window. There she raised 5 children, who survive, Anthony Jr., Nicolas, Thomas (Lisa), Robert (Melissa) and Sylvia Ann Keller. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Local survivors include her aunts, Mary Kamaski, of Porter, Ann (Donald) Novak of Chesterton, and many cousins, including the Callaway, Kamaski, Ray and Novak families.

She traveled many times from Alaska to Indiana to visit family and friends, especially at Thanksgiving and family reunions. She was a devout Catholic and very active in her home parish at St. Phillips Catholic Church.

Memorial services were held on August 29, 2020, at her home where many family and friends gathered to celebrate her life. Rest in peace Maryanna.
