John McCarthy, 80, passes away

John McCarthy, 80, life long resident of Porter, IN, peacefully passed away on October 4, 2020.

He was born on November 19, 1939. John served in the US Army and was retired from Inland Steel. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, casinos and tending his garden.

John is proceeded in death by his parents, Dennis and Myrtle McCarthy, four brothers (Skip, Thomas, Donald and Daniel), two sisters (Carol and Cecilia) and one son.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley, and his two sons Jeffrey (Bea) McCarthy and Jacup (Susan) McCarthy, two grandchildren Jeremiah and Brittany McCarthy and his brother Warren (Carol) McCarthy, and several nieces and nephews.

John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed.

No services will be held at this time. A private luncheon will be held for immediate family and friends at Riley’s Rail House in Chesterton on Friday, October 9, from 12 p.m.-3 p.m.
