Amy Christine McCord passes away at age 41

Amy Christine McCord, age 41, of Valparaiso, IN formerly of Chesterton, IN, passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones, after a brave battle with cancer, on Wednesday, June 10, 2020.

She was born in Valparaiso, IN, on June 27, 1978.

Amy is survived by her loving husband, Scot McCord and beloved children, Summer, Christian, Roland, Analise, Mosiah, Genevieve, Rebecca, Michael, Virginia and Declan; father and step-mother, James & Patricia Johnson; step father, George Nelson; father and mother-in-law, Scot and Janet McCord; brothers, Matt (Jodi) Johnson, James (Stacey) Nelson and Anthony Malesevic; sisters, Megan (Josh) Edwards and Katie (Ryan) Gallagher. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lynn Nelson and grandparents, Herbert & Velma Johnson (Bumpa and Nana).

Amy graduated from Chesterton High School Class of 1997. She attended college and was working toward her associate degree. She studied and became certified as a Doula. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Amy was talented in crocheting, painting and drawing. She loved the outdoors, nature and healthy living. Above all else Amy loved being a mother and a friend, of which she had many.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to her many friends and family for their support during these difficult times. Due to social distancing restrictions currently in effect, the family will be announcing a Memorial Gathering at a later date.
