Edith P. Campbell,
89 of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018.
She was born
September 22, 1928, in Glassport, PA, to John and Betsy (Fox) Pilling.
Edith made her
career as a waitress at Wellman’s and the Valparaiso Country Club for many
years. Her love of swimming dictated the purchase of a home on Flint Lake
and she swam well into her 80’s. Snowmobiling with her husband was a joy
they shared for 40 years.
On January 16,
1948, in Winchester, West Virginia, Edith married Leroy Campbell, who
survives, along with sons Douglas Campbell (Mary Ann) of Newnan, GA, and
Duane Campbell (Judy) of Lake City, FL; grandchildren Joanne Tidwell,
Michael Campbell, Karen Jean White, and Diane Sweet; and
great-grandchildren, Emma and Lily Tidwell.
She was preceded in
death by her parents and siblings, Alfred Pilling and Doris Smith.
A visitation will
be held Tuesday from 9:30 -- 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church,
103 Franklin St., Valparaiso, with funeral service beginning at 10:30 a.m.
and entombment to follow at Graceland Cemetery.
Memorial donations
may be made to the church.
