Services Friday for Jeannette Elizabeth Martin

Jeannette Elizabeth Martin, age 79 of Chesterton, Indiana, passed away on January 4, 2018, following a brief illness.

She was born on March 20, 1938 in Moira, New York, to Clarence Earl and Hattie Blanche (Lamitie) Larche. Her mother preceded her in death in 1966 and her father in 1979.

On January 7, 1959, in Gabriels, New York, she married the love of her life, Benjamin Muncil Martin Jr., who preceded her in death in 2012 after 53 years of marriage.

She is survived by her daughter Betsy Jane (Danny) Slay of Lakeland, Florida, and son Todd Matthew (Judith) Martin of Porter, Indiana; grandchildren Zachary Ryan (Brittany) Six of Lakeland, Florida, and Alannah Marie (Tylor) Six of Winter Haven, Florida, Benjamin Lucas Martin, Jacob John Martin, Jonathan Mark Martin, Anna Alicia Carina Martin, and David Matthew Martin of Porter, Indiana; sisters Irene Tatro of Oakfield, New York, and Peggy (Gary) Potter of Rogersville, Tennessee; brothers Robert (Betty) Larche of Massena, New York, and Jerris (Gail) Larche of North Bangor, New York; sister-in-law Rita Larche of Dannemora, New York, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by infant son Shawn Timothy Martin, brother Richard Mike (Rita) Larche of Dannemora, New York and sister Theresa Oakes of Malone, New York.

Jeannette graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy, Malone, New York, and attended Champlain Valley School of Nursing, Plattsburgh, New York. She was a nurse’s aide at Alice Hyde Nursing Home, Malone, New York. She and Ben moved to Richmond, Indiana, in 1990, and then to the Chesterton area in 1995. They were active members of Fairhaven Baptist Church and loved being a part of the Jolly 60s Senior Ministry.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018, at 11:30 a.m., at Fairhaven Baptist Church, 86 East Oak Hill Road, Chesterton, Indiana, 46304, with Pastor Steve Damron officiating. Graveside service immediately following at Chesterton Cemetery, weather permitting.

Memorial donations may be given to The Jolly 60s Ministry, c/o Fairhaven Baptist Church, 86 East Oak Hill Road, Chesterton, Indiana, 46304.

Arrangements are under the care of White-Love Funeral Home, Chesterton.
