Services Wednesday for Kent Stumpf, age 86

Kent Stumpf, age 86 of Chesterton, IN, passed away on May 27, 2017.

He was born on May 20, 1931, in East Chicago, IN, to Lewis and Alberta (Slater) Stumpf.

He is survived by his sons, Dana (Julie) Stumpf and Timothy Stumpf; daughter, Kimberly Oden; and sister, Martha (Jerry) Rapp.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma Stumpf; brother, Thomas Stumpf; sister, Shirley Fahey; and son-in-law, Larry Oden.

Kent was a lifelong resident of Chesterton, IN. He was married to his wife, Norma for 49 years. Kent was a Naval Reservist and a meat cutter for A&P and Beef Mart for over 40 years. He was the owner of Trophy Hunters for over 20 years. Kent was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a life member of Deep River Bowman. He enjoyed his trips with the family to the casino and he loved to draw and paint. Kent had a great sense of humor and was a very happy and upbeat gentleman. He was truly a class act.

A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at 1:00 p.m., at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN, 46304, with Pastor Craig Forwalter officiating.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Chesterton Cemetery, Chesterton, IN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 8180 Greensboro Drive, Suite 400, McLean, VA, 22102, or the Visiting Nurses Association.
