Lowell Thomas
Gillikin, 80, of Aurora, NC, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017, at Vidant
Medical Center of Greenville, NC.
He was born
November 23, 1936, to the late John Lester and Mamie Gillikin.
He was also
preceded in death by siblings, John Gerard Gillikin and Dorothy Bernatitus.
Mr. Tommy retired
from Bethlehem Steel Corporation after 30 years and returned home to Aurora,
NC. He was a child of God and a member of White Hill Freewill Baptist
Church, where he was a deacon. He had a passion for his church, family,
friends and community. He loved his wife and family more than anything and
used his God-given talents to serve.
He is survived by
his loving wife, Donna Marie Critchfield Gillikin, they would have
celebrated their 61st anniversary April 7; four sons, John Thomas (Cheryl)
of Chesterton, IN, Paul Douglas (Kim) of Winterville, NC, Kenneth Craig
(Margaret) of Clover, SC, and Michael David (Jennifer) of Winterville, NC;
sisters, Billie Jean Daw (Elbert) and Susan Chenoweth (Charles);
sister-in-law, Lynne Gillikin; eight grandchildren, Amy, Krista, Matt,
Andrew, Zachary, Lindsay, Meghan and Ryan; and one great-grandchild, Drake.
His memorial
service will be held Tuesday, April 4, at 11 a.m., at White Hill FWB Church,
with the Rev. Wesley Taylor and Rev. Kenneth Gillikin officiating.
The family will
receive friends and relatives from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, at Bryant
Funeral Home in Alliance, NC.
In lieu of flowers,
the family requests that memorials be sent to White Hill FWB Church, 210
Whitely Rd. Aurora, NC, 27806, in support of the music chimes.
