Pluta, 92, Chesterton, Indiana, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017, at 4:27
a.m. in Franciscan Health - Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana.
Funeral services
will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2017, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral
Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana, with Brother Shaun Gray
officiating. Burial will follow in Chesterton Cemetery, Chesterton, Indiana.
Visitation will be
Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the Ott/Haverstock
Funeral Chapel.
He was born
December 12, 1924, in Chesterton, Indiana, to the late Ignatz and Agatha (Koziol)
Pluta.
On February 15,
1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada, he married Judith (Fletcher) Michalec Hayden
Pluta who survives in Chesterton, Indiana.
Also surviving are
four daughters, Sharon (Bernie) Herod of Katy, Texas, Charlene (Keith)
Lewalski of Snoqualmie, Washington, Pat (Jack) Janasiak of LaPorte, Indiana
and Karen (Larry) Gutowski of Trail Creek, Indiana; three step-sons, Thomas
(Lori Halvik) Michalec of Chicago, Illinois, Scott (Amy) Michalec of
Chesterton, Indiana and James (Gina) Hayden of Chicago, Illinois; two
step-daughters, Karen McClafferty of Chesterton, Indiana, and Susan (Robert)
Trcka of Chesterton, Indiana; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was also
preceded in death by his grandson, Brian Herod and 12 brothers and sisters.
Steve enjoyed
playing the concertina accordion and was a talented polka dancer receiving
numerous awards. He enjoyed woodworking and retired as a general foreman
from Joy Mfg. His pride and joy was working in the fields of his farm and
raising his farm animals his whole lifetime.
