Back To Front Page

George William Castle, age 78 of Burns Harbor, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 23, 2017, surrounded by his family.

George was born, born September 22, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois to William S. and Beatrice (Baldwin) Castle, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children, Caron (Michael) DeBoard of Morris, IL, Craig (Stephanie) Castle of Portage, IN, Cynthia (Phillip) Pledger of Yucaipa, CA, and Curtis (Amy) Castle of Springfield, TN. He had 10 loving grandchildren; Amanda, Adam, Rachel (Casey), Andrew (Tanya), Sydney, Christopher, Alan, Ashlee (Phillip), Ian and Emma. He also had two great-grandchildren, Paisley and Theodore. George is also survived by his bother Richard Castle of Burns Harbor, and sister Carolyn Deuitch of Walkerton, IN.

George was a lifelong Cubs fan and admittedly one of his greatest joys was getting to see them win the World Series. He loved to watch all sports and call and talk with his grandchildren about the games. He also enjoyed visiting the Dunes and bird watching.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation services will be provided by Heritage Crematory, Portage, IN. Arrangements handled by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN, 46304.
