Longtime local resident Vickie Lynn Valadez Lipniskis died on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Michigan City. She was 56.

Born on November 18, 1960, in Johnstown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Victor and Eleanor (Alva) Valadez.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Lipniskis; daughters Sarah (Richard) Hollaway; Renee (Jayson) Jeffries; grandchildren James and Connor Hollaway all of Chesterton; brothers Victor Valadez of New York, NY; Michael Valadez of Chesterton; brother and sister-in-law Terry and Rose Lipniskis of Chesterton; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Tina Lipniskis of Tavares, FL; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and close friend (practically sister) Nancy Collins.

Vickie graduated Chesterton High School in 1978. After graduating from Purdue, Vickie quickly established herself in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Community as a teacher for the next 34 years. In addition, she taught at the Portage Adult Education Center, helping students earn GED’s, was very charitably active in the local community and was a longtime member of LULAC Duneland Council No. 5016. Her hobbies included the Theater Group, Bunco Babes, Friday night movies, NCIS and Law & Order, and much more, but most importantly she enjoyed spending time with loved ones Ð her husband, daughters, family and friends Ð and playing with her grandchildren. Vickie loved others unconditionally and made everyone feel they belonged. Her humor, truth, compassion, and fun-loving spirit is a true example on how to love life. She was passionate in every aspect of life and inspiration to each and every person she met. She truly made a difference and will be sorely missed.
