Leona M. Packham (nee Brickner), age 88 of Hobart, passed away peacefully October 25, 2015, surrounded by family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard C. Packham; brothers Raymond and Russell Brickner.

Leona was a baker and head cook for the Portage School System for 20 years. She was a member of the Pinochle and Bunco Club and volunteered for the St. Mary Medical Center Auxiliary. Leona was a former member of First United Methodist Churches in Hobart and Wheeler.

Leona is survived by her children Linda (Mario Alvarez) Sopko and Martin Packham; grandchildren Lisa (Dan) Smith, Laura (Brian Cox) Sopko, Michael (Amanda) Sopko, William (Ursula) Packham, Anna Packham; step-grandchildren Steven (Kim) Sopko, Michelle (Kevin) Markert; great-grandchildren Elena, Veronica, Olivia, Noah, Mayson, Bode, Kaitlyn, Tyler, Benjamin, and Jason; sister Jeanette (Jerry) Uptgraft; sister-in-law Joan Brickner; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Tom Rees

Friends may visit with Leona’s family from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart, IN, with a memorial service following immediately at 7 p.m.
