Thomas Andrew Kopko, age 84 of Ogden Dunes, Ind., (Portage) and formerly of
Gary, Ind., passed away March 26, 2013.
Tom is survived
by his wife of 54 years, Geraldine “Gerrie” (nee Welter); two sons Thomas R.
(Barbara) Kopko of Chesterton, Ind., and Robert A. (Mary) Kopko of
Perrysburg, Ohio; two grandsons Jonathan A. “Jack” and Benjamin T.; brother
Andrew J. “Jack” (Adele) Kopko of Ogden Dunes and several nieces and

in death by his parents Stephen and Anna Kopko, infant son Peter Kopko,
brother Stephen Kopko, Jr., and sister Paula J. Novak.
from Lew Wallace High School, Class of 1947, and received his Bachelor of
Science degree from Indiana University in 1952. He served in the United
States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. He was a lifetime
member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Thomas Council and a former
Secretary-Treasurer and Director of First Federal Savings and Loan
Association in Gary.
visit with the family on Monday, April 1, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Burns
Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart.
will be Tuesday beginning at 11:45 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home and proceeding
to St. Francis Xavier Church, 2447 Putnam St., Lake Station, Ind., for a
Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m., Rev. David W. Kime officiating.
Services will end at the church.
In lieu of
flowers contributions in Mr. Kopko’s memory may be made to St. Francis
Xavier Church or to Harbor Light Hospice.
