Anyone who read the Chesterton Tribune in 1992-1993 read often about a pretty blond girl at Chesterton High School named Cassie Dommer. She competed on the speech and debate team and was so successful that her picture and articles about her titles and trophies ran in paper frequently.

Sadly Catharine “Cassie” Dommer passed away last month of colon cancer, leaving behind two children and a host of friends and family members.

A Life Celebration Service is planned for this Sunday, February 23, at 2 p.m. (CT) in LaPorte.

The event will be held at the Allure Banquet Hall, 301 B. Street, LaPorte, Ind. This will be a time to gather and tell stories, drink champagne, and offer condolences to the family and friends of Cassie, who moved to Indianapolis 15 years ago.

Attendees are asked to write down any happy “Cassie stories” they may have that can be put into a book for her son and daughter.
