He was born January 8, 2013 in Blount, West Virginia, to Levi and Cora (Tucker) Sheets.

He was married on June 8, 1950 in West Virginia to Mary I. Huffman. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage until Mary’s death in 2010.

Shorty moved to Indiana in 1954 and worked briefly for the railroad but returned to the trade that he learned in West Virginia, auto body repair. Shorty retired from Connors Motors, where he worked as an auto body repairman. Shorty was a member of the Westville Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed NASCAR, the Indy 500, the auto show and dogs. His smile will be missed at the Mortgage Inn and the VFW. The Lanes would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the VNA, The Waters of Duneland and Scott Cunningham for their help and caring for Shorty in these recent months. By Shorty’s request, no visitation is scheduled. His wish was to be cremated.
