Catharine Rhea "Cassie” Dommer Radabaugh, age 38, of Fishers, Ind., passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013 in Fishers.

She was born on November 5, 1974, in Valparaiso, Ind., to Vickie Lopez Dommer and Steven Dommer.

In addition to her parents, Cassie is survived by a son, Theodore “Teddy” Richard Radabaugh, a daughter, Contessa “Tess” Therese Radabaugh, her sister, Elizabeth Dey “Ellie” (Robert) Scurlock, nephew Michael Scurlock, niece and goddaughter Miriam Scurlock, brother Harrison “Harry” O. Dommer, companion Peter N. Bethanis, paternal grandmother Thelma Dommer, maternal grandmother Susie M. (Tony) Depino, maternal grandfather Jesus’ “Jesse” Lopez and friend Jennifer Wallace.

Cassie was preceded in death by her maternal uncle Brian K. Lopez, and paternal grandfather Harold R. Dommer.

As a young woman, Cassie was a member of the Chesterton High School Speech and Debate Team and an accomplished member of the National Forensic League. She was the 1991 State and National Champion in Poetry Interpretation. In 1992 she was fourth in the United States in Original Oratory. In 1993 she was once again the State Champion in Poetry Interpretation and fourth in the Nation in Original Oratory.

In 2008, Cassie coordinated the Chesterton High School Speech and Debate 40th Anniversary Reunion.

Cassie was a member of Christ the Savior Lutheran Church, of Fishers, Ind. She worked most recently as an Optometric Assistant (CPOA) for Allisonville Eye Care. Prior to that, she was a graduate of Purdue University’s Class of 1997, and an English teacher, Speech coach, and homemaker. Cassie’s hobbies included needlework, walking in parks, and reading and writing poetry. Her favorite poet was “Bethanis.” She particularly loved spending time with children, and especially reading aloud to them.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. (central time) Saturday, January 12, at Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Reverend William Foy officiating. The church is at 234 West Division Road, Valparaiso, Ind.

Visitation will be Friday, January 11, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (eastern standard time) at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, Fishers, Ind.

A private graveside service will be held at Chesterton Cemetery in Chesterton, Ind.

There will be a Life Celebration conducted by Jennifer Wallace in 4-6 weeks in LaPorte, Ind.
