Brooke Mieczenkowski, of Chesterton, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013. She was 23 years old.

She was born October 25, 1989 in Valparaiso, the daughter of John Mieczenkowksi, Jr., who survives in Valparaiso and Lori (Wilgus) Mieczenkowski, who survives in Chesterton.

She is also survived by her paternal grandmother, Edith Mieczenkowski; aunts Barb (Terry) Nowlin and Diane (Mike) Hall; uncles Steve Vitoux, Butch (Chris) Wilgus and Damon (Debra) Wilgus and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, John Mieczenkowski, Sr. and maternal grandparents, Dave and Audrey Wilgus.

Brooke worked as a cashier and was a volunteer at the animal shelter. She loved animals, especially her cat Felix and enjoyed movies, sweets, fishing and swimming.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Mar. 10 at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St., Valparaiso. Funeral services, with Pastor Denny Smith officiating, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Mar. 11 at Valley Baptist Church, 255 Rigg Rd., Valparaiso. Burial will be in Angelcrest Cemetery, Valparaiso.
