William 'Warren' Boo service is Thursday

William “Warren” Boo, age 88 of Burns Harbor, Ind., passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013 in Valparaiso, Ind.

He was born on December 9, 1924 on the Boo Road family farm in what was then Westchester Township (Burns Harbor).

On May 9, 1953, he married Betty Woodward Boo, his wife of 59 years, who survives in Burns Harbor.

He is also survived by his sons Jon (Mary Ann) Boo of Downers Grove, Ill., Kevin (Mara) Boo of Highland Park, Ill., and James (Lori) Boo of LaGrange, Ill.; a daughter Inga (Quint) Yarber of Valparaiso, Ind.; grandchildren Tim Boo, Amanda Boo, Amelia Boo, Griffin Boo, Carolyn Boo, Jack Boo, Ken Yarber and Andrew Yarber.

Warren is also survived by his brothers Glenn (Louisa) Boo of Fort Myers, Fla., and Roger Boo of Chesterton, Ind., and a sister Alice (William) Ernst of Noblesville, Ind.

Warren was a lifelong member of Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, a lifelong member of the Westport Community Club and was employed by US Steel Gary Works for 35 years.

He was politically active in the local community, serving as Republican Precinct Committee-man for years.

Warren was a veteran of WWII serving his country in the Marine Corp. in the South Pacific, he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from the Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 N. Mineral Springs Rd., Porter, Ind., with Pastor Erik Bernth officiating. Burial will follow in the Augsburg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 10, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Augsburg Evangelical Church.
