Thomas Arthur Ruhe,
age 80, passed away April 10, 2014, at his home in LaHabra Heights, Calif.,
after a long battle with multiple myeloma. His wife and five children were
at his bedside.
Tom was born in
Chesterton, Ind., to Edward and Geneva Ruhe, both of whom preceded him in
In 2007 he married
Ping (Pan) Ruhe. He is survived by his children, Lynn (Ruhe) Minidis,
Palmdale, Calif., Terry (Ruhe) Armstrong, Corona, Calif., Mark Ruhe, Davis,
Calif., Scott Ruhe, Yorba Linda, Calif., and Sandra (Ruhe) Dosch, Yorba
Linda, Calif., and thirteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, his
wife, Ping Y Ruhe (Pan) and her daughter Helen Anson. Tom had six siblings,
three of whom survive; Jack Ruhe, Mishawaka, Ind., Richard Ruhe,
Indianapolis, Ind., Janet (Ruhe) King, Hayward, Wis.
He was preceded in
death by his infant brother, Gene, sister, Helen Krause, and brother, Robert
He graduated from
Chesterton High School in 1951. He married Constance (Conru) Ruhe in 1952.
He received a BS degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University,
graduating with honors in 1961. Tom held executive positions with several
corporations, ending his career with public companies at Ingersoll Rand,
Proto Tool Division. He was vice president of manufacturing, managing five
locations. He was on the Board of Directors for the Guadalajara, Mexico
Division. He retired from Proto Tool with honorable mention in 1980. He
purchased a manufacturing company Shepard-Thomason Co. in 1980 and his
second manufacturing company in 1990 J.C. Ford Company; he was CEO of his
companies until his death.
A private viewing
and rosary will be held at Loma Vista Mortuary on April 21, 2014. A public
funeral mass will be held on Tuesday April 22, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Juliana
Falconieri Catholic Church1320 N. Acacia Ave., Fullerton, Calif.
