Parnell 'Curt' Simon Jr., service Thursday

Parnell “Curt” Simon Jr., age 81 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013.

He was born January 2, 1932 in Iron Mountain, Michigan, to Parnell and Dorothy (Kunteze) Simon.

He is survived by daughter, Carolyn M. Simon of Chesterton; and brother, William (Mary) Simon of Green Bay, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 58 years, Alberta Jean (Swager) Simon and son, William P. Simon.

Curt served his country honorably in the Army during the Korean War. He worked as an Accountant and Assistant Secretary-Treasurer for the Hunter Corporation. He was a die-hard fan of the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Red Wings, and the University of Michigan hockey team. Curt loved watching trains with his numerous buddies. He also enjoyed taking pictures of the engines and sharing those with his pals. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan. Curt received his MBA from the University of Detroit. He was a member of the Duneland Model Railroad Club. Curt loved “Noir” films so much so that he passed peacefully with the TV control in hand.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. (CST) at Chesterton Cemetery, Chesterton, Ind., with Pastor Cathy Allison officiating.
