Mary L. Navarro “Sylvia”, age 76, of Chesterton, Ind., and formerly of South
Chicago, Ill., has passed away.
She is survived by Jose G. Navarro, her husband of 53 years.
She is also survived by her children Mary Ann (Raymond) Kozul, Elizabeth
Navarro, Cynthia (Mitchell) Hehr and Lucia Mendez; grandchildren: Matthew,
Joseph, Christine, Timothy, Julian and Zachary; brothers Maurilio (Clare)
Moreno and Robert (Linda) Moreno, and sisters Esther (Evelio) Garza and
Laura Moreno, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Mary, and her siblings Raymond,
Ruben and Rose Moreno.
She was retired from Valley Mold and was a founder of the Ladies Auxiliary
of Our Lady of Guadalupe Knights of Columbus #8595.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 4, 2014, with 8:45 a.m. prayers,
from Elmwood Chapel, 11200 S. Ewing Ave., Chicago, Ill., to Our Lady of
Guadalupe Church, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at St. Mary
Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the “Mary Ward Center” of the
Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (I.B.V.M.) would be appreciated.
