James Kirby Kopp, age 68, of Ogden Dunes, Ind., passed away Friday, May 31,
He was born October 31, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio to Roy Otto and Rosemary
(nee Kirby) Kopp.
He is survived by his mother, Rosemary Kopp; son, Kenneth James (Kimberly)
Kopp; daughters, Michelle Kopp Rakoczy and Carrie (Bryan) McCulloch; seven
grandchildren; Fiancé, Melissa Ramoley and her children, Chris (Katie) and
David (Andi) and their children; brothers, Bill (Becka) Kopp, Terry (Joyce)
Kopp, Kevin (Nancy) Kopp and Tim (Jodi) Kopp; sister, Anne Marie (Bruce)
Phelan; and his loyal and beloved companion dog, Zulu.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Jim was a graduate of Marquette University Class of 1967. He was President
of PK Engineering, volunteer Fire Chief, served as Town Board President,
Porter County Auditor and Water Commissioner. Jim was instrumental on the
Save the Beach Council and was the Reggae Party Chairman. He was an avid
boater, exchange student sponsor and loved being Santa Claus. Jimís positive
attitude, energy, love of life and mischievous laugh will be dearly missed
by all who loved him.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. directly
at St. Ann of the Dunes, 433 East Golfwood Rd., Beverly Shores, Ind., 46301.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at
Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind., 46304.
