Ervin McBride services Thursday

Ervin McBride, age 80 of Chesterton, Ind., formerly of Naperville Ill., passed away at Porter Regional Hospital, in Liberty Twp., on Monday, March 24, 2014.

He was born on October 27, 1933, in Convoy, Ohio, to Arthur Lee and Mabel Smith McBride, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children Catherine “George” (Bob) Allison of Chesterton; Michael “Herbie” McBride of Portage, Ind., and Deborah “Termite,” (John) Blumer, of Porter, Ind., (nicknames fondly given by dad); grandchildren Cody and Levi Simmons, Connor, Bobby, Eric and Melanie Allison, Jarrett, Justin and Kelsey McBride and Ashley, Kyle and Abigayle Blumer; five great-grandchildren and his sister Lois (Verlis) Slusher of Montpelier, Ind.

Ervin was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Karges and Edna Karges.

Ervin was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Naperville and a member of the Chesterton Moose Lodge 1623. He was a computer programmer and served our country proudly in the U.S. Army.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the Swedish Chapel at the First United Methodist Church of Chesterton. Pastor Scott Tyring will be officiating. Burial will take place in the Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 26, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton.

Memorials may be made in Ervin’s name to the “Love Cares” account at the First United Methodist Church of Chesterton.
