Dwayne Odell Simons service Sunday, February 16

Dwayne Odell Simons, age 68, of Chesterton, Ind., affectionately known as “Sie” passed away Monday, January 13, 2014.

He was born on January 13, 1946 in Gary, Ind., the son of the late Edward L. and Thelma (Phillips) Simons.

Dwayne is survived by his sons, Brett Simons of Los Angeles, Calif., and Chad (Melissa) Simons of Chesterton, Ind.; and two grandchildren, Madison and Ella.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Simons.

Dwayne was a proud 1964 graduate of Wirt High School. After employment at Korhumel Steel, Dwayne earned a Barber’s license, working at the Beach Barber Shop before going into business with his brother at the S-Curve Barber Shop in Lake Station, Ind. He owned and operated Simons Sports Shop in Lake Station, and worked at Hessville Cable & Sling until retirement. Dwayne was an avid fisherman and softball enthusiast as well as a passionate gardener.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2014, at 4 p.m., in a private room at Gelsosomo’s Pizzeria, 371 Indiana Boundary Rd., Chesterton, IN, 46304.

Arrangements handled by Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, IN.
