Dorothy 'Dottie' Bachman dies

Dorothy Bachman, 80, of Chesterton, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, in Chesterton.

She was born on Aug., 27, 1933, in Chicago, the daughter of Roy and Margueritte Perlette Harvey, both of whom preceded her in death.

Dottie is survived by her children, Cheryl (David) Lobsiger of Chesterton, Jeff (Debbie) Bachman of Valparaiso, Laurie (Scott) Wellman of Valparaiso, and David (Cheryl) Bachman of Chesterton; by her sisters, Marion (George) Hicks of Florida and Rita (John) Szabo of Chesterton; and by eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Dottie is also survived by her caregiver and loving friend, Mary Griffin of Chesterton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Bachman in 2009; her grandson, SFC Jacob Wellman in 2013; and her sister, Arlene “Mickey” Brown.

Dottie enjoyed hosting family holidays with her husband and cooking for her family brought her great happiness. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

There will be a private family service on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 from the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St. in Chesterton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the VNA Hospice Center, 2401 Valley Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46383 or to the charity of your choice.
