Former local resident Donald Raymond Rose, age 61, of Olive Hill, Kentucky,
passed away Tuesday morning, May 14, 2013, at his residence.
He was born July 28, 1941, in Valparaiso, Ind., a son of the late John Peter
Rose Sr. and Margaret Tucker Rose.
Donald is survived by his wife of 41 years, Charlotte Jones Rose; two
daughters, Jennifer Rose of Porter, Ind., and Teresa Rose and her wife,
Deanna, of Spring Hill, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and a special
nephew whom he thought of as a son, Mike Long of Morehead, Kentucky. He also
leaves many other family members, church family, and friends who will sadly
miss him. The family would like to thank his two special caregivers, Wendy
Stevens and Wes Burchett.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John
Peter Rose Jr., and one half sister, Gloria Everly.
Donald was a member of the Olive Hill First Church of Nazarene and was
retired from U.S. Steel in Gary, Indiana. He enjoyed watching trains, was an
avid White Sox Baseball and UK Basketball fan, and loved his cats.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with
Pastor Schmidt officiating at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway,
Chesterton, Ind., 46304. Burial is to follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 20, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at
the funeral home.
