Dan Herrold dies at 67

Dan “Boone” Herrold, 67, of Wanatah, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at home.

He was born April 3, 1946, in LaPorte to Dr. Dan and Lucile (Brooks) Herrold.

On June 16, 1973, in Wanatah, he married Mary Sich, who survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Lucile of Florida; his children, Kelly Button of Winamac, Katie (Jay) Tuttle of San Marco, Calif., Andrew (Cynthia) Herrold of Valparaiso, Amy (Ken) Atkison of Westville, Anita (Joe) Mayer of Chesterton, and Aaron (Mandy Cooper) Herrold of Wanatah; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Janet (Elmer) Gaul of Hendersonville, N.C., and Dorothy (Norbert) Roman of Ocala, Fla.

Dan was a very positive influence in the lives of his many nieces and nephews. He was a U.S Marine veteran and a retired sheet metal worker and pipefitter. Dan will always be remembered by family and friends for his willingness to put others’ needs before his own.

Visitation will be at 12 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Newhard Funeral home, 58 W. Walnut St. in Westville.

Pastor Rick Moore will officiate.
