Charles Morris service Saturday

Charles H. Morris, age 73 of Valparaiso, Ind., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2014.

He was born July 31, 1940, in Oak Park, Ill., to Clarence and Alma (Meiss) Morris.

Charles is survived by his wife of 21 years, Bonnie; brother, Roger Morris of Chesterton, Ind., sister Jean Ellian of Fredonia, New York; son, Arthur (Katherine) Morris of Valparaiso, step-sons, Dewey (Sue), Thomas (Diane), James (Linda), Robert (Laura), Myers, all of Chesterton, and Thomas Kestas of San Diego, Ca.; step-daughters Mary Ann (Leonard) Cooner of Townley, Ala. and Shari (Ben) Heege of Seattle, Wa., and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Ralph Morris.

He graduated from Wheeler High School in 1958 before serving in the U.S. Navy. He retired from U.S. Steel in 1994 with 30 years of service and consulted for various steel mills. He was a proud member of the NWI Woodworkers Association, the Calumet Masonic Lodge #379 in Chesterton, the York Rite Bodies in Michigan City, and most recently served as Vice-President of the Fifth Street Club in Wheeler, Ind.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at the Fifth Street Club (old Wheeler High School) 110 N. 5th St. Wheeler, Ind., starting at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served following.
