Back To Front Page

On Saturday, August 3, 2013, at 2 p.m., a Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Martin and Lois Kennoy.

Martin and Lois were long time residents of Chesterton, Ind.

They were married in Royal Oak, Michigan on July 12, 1948, and moved to Chesterton in 1955.

They had eight children: Larry, Debbie, Mark, Rick, Mike, Marshall, Mary Ellen and Martha Ann.

They also had 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, many of whom still live in the Chesterton area.

Martin and Lois purchased and restored the Main Street building in downtown Chesterton in 1979 and then purchased and restored The Hoham House in 1983.

Martin and Lois were involved in several projects in Chesterton over the years, including the Oz festival, Christmas Walk, Medieval Festival and the Frontier Festival, to name a few.

They opened their building to several groups for meetings and functions over the years.

Lois Lane, off Indiana Ave., in downtown Chesterton, and the parking area behind South Calumet, was named after Lois to honor all the work and beautification she did in that area.

Lois was also named Business Woman of the year in 1992.

Please join this remembrance event at the American Legion at 798 Wabash Ave., Chesterton, on August 3 at 2 p.m. to celebrate and reminisce about the lives of Martin and Lois Kennoy.
