William H. Miller, age 90 of Valparaiso, and formerly of Liberty Township,
passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Golden Living Center Valparaiso.
He was born on
January 1, 1922 in Michigan Town, Ind., to Elmer and Ruth (Barnett) Miller.
On January 31,
1948 in Frankfort, Ind., William married Maxine Ottinger who survives, along
with their sons, Sam (Cindy) Miller of Indianapolis and Kirby Miller of
Kouts; and two grandchildren, Stephen and Grace Miller.
He was preceded
in death by his parents, brother, Charles R. Miller, and sister, Elizabeth
Myers.
Bill graduated
from Rossville High School and was a WWII veteran of the Army Air Force.
While serving he fought in both Normandy and Northern France, earning an Air
Medal, two Battle Stars and European, African, and Middle Eastern Service
Medals.
Bill worked for
22 years, retiring in 1984 from Midwest Steel and was a member of the Hebron
United Methodist Church.
A funeral
service will be held Saturday, March 10, at 2:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral
Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with burial to follow at Graceland
Cemetery, Valparaiso.
Visitation will
be held Saturday at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the time of
service.
