William F. Bill 'Choisser' service Wednesday

William F. “Bill” Choisser, age 67, of Chesterton, Ind., passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2012 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with lung cancer.

Bill was a lifelong area resident. He was born in Gary, Ind., on July 29, 1945 to William E. and Luella (Williams) Choisser.

He married Emma “Pat” Yakel, August 4, 1962.

Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pat Choisser of Chesterton; his son, William D. “ Buck” (wife, Janet) Choisser of Chesterton; daughters, Patsy (husband, Greg) Staub of Chesterton, Tina (husband, Jeff) Kerlin of Brookfield, Wisc., Dawn (husband, Mike) Wagner of Merrillville, Ind., and Loretta (husband, Jerry) Scott of Chesterton; sisters Rexine Johnson of Ohio, Billie Lou (husband, Frank) Mitchell of Indiana, Shirley Flick of Valparaiso and Barbara (husband, J.J.) Gillisipie of Chesterton; grandchildren, Rosie Leon, Samantha Barry, John Staub, Hannah Staub, Caylee Wagner, David Kerlin, Daniel Kerlin, Rebekah Kerlin, Rachel Staub and Noah Staub and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol and grandson, B.J. Choisser.

Bill retired from Midwest Operating Engineers in 2000. He was a member of the Chesterton Moose Lodge. He coached Liberty Rec for several years and was President of the League. Bill coordinated the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy telethon in the area for many years. He always put his all into whatever he took on.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at 6:00 p.m., at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m.

Memorial donations in Bill’s name may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association or the St. Anthony Hospice Center.
