William (Bill) Horace Adams died July 16, 2012 in Scottsdale, Arizona, at
the age of 88.
Bill was born in Valparaiso, Ind., on March 6, 1924.
Bill is survived by his wife Ruth, daughter Jeanne Goodine (Michael) of
Scottsdale, Ariz., and daughter Barbara Baggs (Gregory), of Valparaiso, Ind.
He also leaves seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, with one
more coming very soon.
He was preceded in death by his son Bruce Adams.
Bill spent much of his youth in Chicago until joining the Navy in August of
1942, at 18 years old. He served in the Pacific and North Africa during
World War II on various destroyers as a fire control man until January 26,
1946.
After returning home he was employed at Inland Steel until retirement in
1982.
He was married 64 years to Ruth Adams (Rothe) from Chicago, Ill., who is
living with their daughter Jeanne Goodine in Scottsdale, Ariz.
He moved his family to Chesterton from Hammond, Indiana in 1957 moving two
years later to 123 Washington Ave. and lived at the same home until just
recently; all cards can be sent there.
For all who knew him he was always busy either building at his home or
fixing whatever needed fixing or helping friends and family. Bill was also a
man of many ideas that he loved to carry out, either improving on tools or
making them himself, always inventing. Bill was a member of the Chesterton
United Methodist Church and of The American Legion.
The date is yet to be set for a fall Memorial service for family and friends
in Chesterton to honor Bill.
An immediate special celebration with be held in Scottsdale, Ariz.
