Victor “Darrell” Racster, age 79 of Jackson Township, passed away on
Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Porter Regional Hospital, Liberty Twp.
He was born on September 29, 1933 in Albion, Ill., to Carl Racster and Nona
Collins Racster, both of whom preceded him in death.
On March 28, 1954, at Townsend Community Church, Newburgh Ind., he married
Ruth Bradley Racster, who survives in Jackson Township.
Also surviving are his children Kyrstal Levi of Jackson Township and Victor
“Chip” (Julie) Racster of Emmittson, Md., grandchildren Bradley Elysse, Will
and Lena, as well as sibling Don (Peggy) Racster of Evansville, Ind.
He is also preceded in death by his brother John Robert Racster, sister Pat
Koonce and grandson John.
Darrell was a Warehouse Supervisor for Ohio Valley Hardware. He was also a
Master Mason Lodge 174 F. & A.M., a member of the Hadi Shrine in Evansville
and a Warrick County Clown. As his children were growing up, he was a
founding member of the Band Boosters at Castle High School, a member of the
PTA, a member of the Evansville Umpire Association and was active with the
Newburg Little League.
Services will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of
White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd Street, Chesterton, Ind.
Memorials in Darrell’s name may be given to the Hadi Shrine Temple, P.O. Box
1, Evansville, IN, 47708, directed toward the Shriners Hospitals for
Children or the Shriner Transportation Fund.
